Sports betting is increasingly the norm for Gen Z. Here’s why some financial and mental health experts are worried

Some Gen Z retail investors treat online sports betting as an investment, while Cynthia Grant, vice president of clinical at online gambling-treatment provider Birches Health, says problematic betting can interfere with school, work and relationships. In a survey by investment advisory platform Betterment, 52% of Gen Z retail investors said they moved money meant for investing to sports betting.
